    Description

Up for bid is an early German threaded pattern silver tablespoon from Augsburg, possibly 1745-47, with Hebrew lettering.
The spoon is 7 5/8 inches long and weighs 53 grams.
It has a threaded fiddle form handle with an upturned tip.
It is engraved with two Hebrew letters on the handle front, and has a scratched “W” on the handle back.
The piece is marked on the bowl back with a [G] Augsburg date code, an assayers gouge and an unreadable maker’s mark.
Condition on the spoon is fair.
The thin edge of the handle has come loose on one side and is pushed inward, so it is a bit fragile.
There is normal wear of age, including some minor bowl dings, and it has not been buffed.
A fine old spoon and piece of Judaica!
