    Description

Trio of Original Colonial Pieces, Framed
1754 Thomas & Richard Penn Land Deed
    1776 Twenty-Shilling Note by Hall & Sellers
1777 Two-Shilling Note by John Dunlap
The previous owner had this collection professionally framed in lovely hardwood.  I prefer to "keep the family together," but if you want just a single piece, please let me know.  In that case, the piece you want would be sold
    without
the frame (saving you a bit on shipping), but I would not be able to slash the price, since the frame by itself would be of no value.  Thank you for your understanding.
    - The 1754 deed (with a recording date of 1766) is on vellum, from Thomas & Richard Penn to one "Abraham Crocksell, alias Abraham Traxell" for 220 acres in Conestoga (Manor), Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  (Note that the family name appears to have morphed in later years to "Troxel" or "Troxell.")  The ink is somewhat faint, and the deed still has its original ribbon at the bottom (which was once red), as well as its original raised seal-on-paper-star on the reverse, from the "Inrollment Office of Pennsylvania."
    - 1776 twenty shilling note by Hall & Sellers (David Hall & William Sellers) for Pennsylvania, bearing three ferns on the obverse.  The note is hand-serial-numbered and hand-signed by three individuals on the reverse: William Kenly, Abel Evans, and C. Moore.
    - 1777 two shilling note by John Dunlap, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania issued during the Revolutionary War, bearing a farm field scene on the obverse.  The note is hand-serial-numbered and hand-signed by W. Thorne on the reverse.

    - All well preserved -- f
    rom a non-smoking environment
    .
    - Ink is faint with age.
    - The deed apparently has some water staining to upper portion, difficult legibility, but complete.  Notice that the bottom 3/4" (approx.) was folded upward by the framer in order to fit the document within the frame, so it is creased at that point.  Also notice that the framing is not double-sided, so you cannot see the reverse side of the document, which includes the raised seal and the 1766 recording date and signature of the recorder.  Of course, it would be very easy to put glass in the back so you have a double-sided display.
    - The notes have age fraying at edges, average surface wear and creasing.  Same as above: the frame is not currently double-sided (though you could change that).  So, you can only see one side of the currency when displayed.
The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep in mind that vintage/antique items always show their age. (Don't we all!?)  It would be impossible to mention every tiny detail, so please expect that
    there will be something
about this item (or lot) that's not perfect and may need touch-up.
PLEASE SUPERSIZE ALL PHOTOS, AND ASK ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING/BUYING.  I'LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER.
