Up for consideration is a beautiful antique 1920s Karess Woodworth art nouveau silver plated compact with mirror. Hallmarked with patent # 1570382. Beautiful Art Deco/art nouveau period etched/embossed relief of flower and scroll motif on top, bottom and inside on mirror back. It measures 2” long x 1.75” wide closed. Absolutely beautiful compact for the discerning collector. This piece is silver plated. Sadly It’s missing it’s inside oval cutout inserts for rouge And powder. The mirror separates the two sections with mirror on center. The inserts were Hallmarked “Karess New York Paris. “ The patent # is Hallmarked on mirror surround. This compact was invented by Arthur S Lyhne, he invented a famous lamp too. He applied for his patent for this compact on 7/19/1922. He was not approved for patent however until 1/19/1926.
