    This is an original document dated 1795, where Dr. John Bettis has sold to John Butters of New Hampshire, a plot of land in Westford, Massachsuetts. Signed on back by John Bettys (Bettis) , Phineas Chamberlain and Hezekiah Winn. Document is 8x12, overall very good condition.
    Dr. John Bettis was born 7 JUL 1757 in Chelmsford, Middlesex Co MA, and died 5 MAY 1827 in Chelmsford, Middlesex Co MA., John served in a Dracut, Massachusetts militia company, part of General Solomon Lovell's Massachusetts Brigade, during the Revolutionary War... drank himself into a pitiful hole, finally being consumed by the Rum.....
    Phineas (also spelled Phinehas) Chamberlain (1746-1813), was a farmer and blacksmith.
