    Description

    From the Richmond* Family Papers of Freetown, Massachusetts, this receipt, measures 7-1/2 x 2-1/4".  Overall good condition; no odor; somewhat wrinkled; 1 closed tear and one small unobtrusive tear.
    Witnessed by Joseph Valentine who may be the man of that name who was listed as a Trader in Freetown in 1735.  A Joseph Valentine, son of Samuel Valentine and Abigail Durfee, married a Hannah Strange in 1755, daughter of Lot Strange and Hannah Hathaway.
    There was a Caleb Chase born in 1722 in Freetown to Benjamin Chase and Mercy Simmons.  Married a Ruth Payne or Paine and or a Sarah (Chase) Robinson.
    A Thomas Richmond (1723-abt 1776), son of Samuel and Sarah, was born in Middleborough / Middleboro and married at Freetown in 1746 to Mary Dodson.
    *Note that the Richmond name was also often spelled Richman at this time.
