Description

This document appears to be for a loan obligation between Ebenezar May and John May in the amount of 40 pounds.
In summary, the promissory note states EBENEZAR MAY, yeoman, of ROXBURY in the COUNTY OF SUFFOLK and PROVINCE of the MASSASCHUSETTS BAY in NEW ENGLAND am bound and obliged unto my brother JOHN MAY of WOODSTOCK in the County of WORCESTER, yeoman in the sum of FORTY POUNDS to be paid to JOHN MAY, signed February 21, 1731/2.
It goes on to say that if TWENTY POUNDS are paid in one year, then the obligation "to be Void" or else to abide and remain in full force.
Interest payments are noted each year for several years until 1739 on the folded column.
There is a tear, wear at the folds and pencil writing noting "Deed and payment recd 1732".
